ZAGREB, Mar 10 (Hina) - Lieutenant General Petar Stipetic, the Croatian Armed Force new chief-of-staff, was born in Ogulin on 24 October 1937. He is a Croat, married, with one child, and lives in Zagreb. He finished the Troops
Military Academy, Troops Senior Military Academy, and the War School. Stipetic performed all duties in the former Yugoslav People's Army, from platoon commander to commander of defence of the City of Zagreb. At late Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's invitation, he leaves the duty of fifth military district operative to enter the Croatian Army in September 1991, where he is appointed deputy chief-of-staff. In July 1992, Stipetic assumes command of the Osijek Military District and the Slavonia Battlefield. He is appointed commander of the Zagreb Military District in December of the same year.
