THE HAGUE, March 1 (Hina) - Persons indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will be tried exclusively before the ICTY, spokesman of the Tribunal Jim Landale said on Wednesday. Every person
indicted by the ICTY will arrive in The Hague and will be tried here, Landale said, and added that the ICTY was considering that only parts of the trials be held in the former Yugoslavia. The trial would still be held before the ICTY, only the courtroom would be somewhere in the former Yugoslavia instead of The Hague, which would depend on safety conditions for witnesses and finances. This is a logistical and administrative issue and nothing else, spokesman of the ICTY prosecutor's office Paul Risley said and added that this didn't mean that trials would be held before national courts.
