ZAGREB, Feb 9 (Hina) - The programme of the Government is in any case
acceptable for the Association of Independent Trade Unions of
Croatia (SSSH), said SSSH President Davor Juric on Wednesday after
Premier Ivica Racan presented the programme to the National Sabor.
Juric was glad to hear that Premier had a few times pointed out the
importance of the cooperation between trade unions and the
necessity to have a social dialogue.
He explained unions were competent interlocutors and promised that
unionists would be very willing to cooperate.
A survey of the current situation in the society, given in the
programme, was in line with what the SSSH had already warned the
former Government about that "the Croatian public does not know the
whole truth" Juric said.
He predicted that it would be very difficult for the country to come
out of a crisis without the cooperation of all forces that can give
their contributions to those bids.
Asked to comment on announcements about austerity measures for the
budget which can mean that there will be no rise in salaries of civil
servants this year, Juric said the SSSH admits that austerity
measures should be taken but it believes there is space for talks on
an increase in salaries.
Asked to comment on the Government's announcement that money of tax
payers will no longer be spent for rehabilitation of companies
which are not promising and that such firms should file for
bankruptcy, Juric said a debate was going on within the SSSH on this
matter. There are questions whether we are in favour of long-term
solutions or we shall keep carrying out damage control. In Juric's
mind the opinion on long-term measures will prevail.
