ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - Gong, a non-government organisation of about 5,000 citizens supervising elections, assessed based on reports submitted by 11am Monday that presidential elections in Croatia were being carried out correctly.
Some irregularities have been recorded, such as some members of electoral committees advising voters for whom to vote, posters of presidential candidates have been noted at locations close to polling stations, the presence of police, insufficient electoral material, irregularly organised polling stations, and so on, Gong said. At two polling stations in Croatia Gong observers were physically removed from the stations. The weather also caused some difficulties, they said. Gong's observers are also following the presidential elections in Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Australia, Slovenia, the South African Republic and France.(hina) lml
