ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Olympic Committee (HHO) on Monday celebrated the eighth anniversary of its joining the International Olympic Committee. HHO president and member of the IOC, Antun Vrdoljak, called for a minute of
silence at the beginning of the manifestation, to pay respect to the first honorary member of the HHO, Franjo Tudjman. He said Croatian athletes had awarded the HHO last year by winning 308 medals all over the world. The Committee also handed out awards based on HHO criteria. Volleyball player Barbara Jelic was pronounced best female athlete and swimmer Milos Milosevic best Croatian male athlete. Pronounced as the best team last year was the women's national volleyball team, and the most successful team rowers Ninoslav Saraga and Oliver Martinov. Athletes Ivana Brkljacic and Duje Draganja were pronounced greatest hopes of Croatian sports last year.(hina) lml
