OSIJEK, Jan 17 (Hina) - representatives of the Croatian Association of Unions (HUS) at the Baranja agricultural company "Belje" asked of Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa and future prime minister Ivica Racan to "begin removing the
accumulated difficulties" in the company. In an open letter the union is asking for the issue of Belje's privatisation to be solved, salaries to be paid regularly, and that the Administration and the Supervisory Committee be recalled. The HUS recalled that employees had not received four months' wages last year, that the company has not been modernised or reconstructed, and that the autumn reaping had been done on 60 per cent of the sowed surface. "The maintenance of Belje is questionable without the support of the Government. Unions are requesting the undeferrable payment of salaries, which is a precondition for social peace," the letter said. (hina) lml mm
