CROATIA OFFERS HUMANITARIAN AID TO TURKEY

RIJEKA, Jan 17 (Hina) - The second shipment of humanitarian aid of Croatia for the earthquake-hit Turkish areas was loaded onto a ship "Enka" in the Croatian port of Rijeka on Monday. In December 1999, under a decree of the Zagreb Government, tents, sleeping bags, blankets and other necessary items were sent to Turkey, while the second shipment consists of food staff such as 20 tonnes of tins of meat and fish and 2000 tons of flour from the State Commodity Stockpiles. The total value of both shipments is 12 million kuna or about 1.5 million U.S dollars. The head of the State Commodity Stockpiles, Kazimir Varda, said the Croatian Government had allocated goods from the commodity stockpiles valued over 60 million kuna (eight million dollars) last year as relief aid forwarded to Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania, Croats in Central Bosnia and those stricken by disastrous earthquakes in Turkey.(hina) ms
