ZAGREB, Jan 13 (Hina) - Member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Presidency Zlatko Matesa on Thursday said he believed the HDZ would not split. "I still strongly believe in that", Matesa said after today's closed session of the
Croatian Government. When asked to comment the announcement of HDZ presidential candidate Mate Granic on freezing his membership in the HDZ, Matesa said Granic had every right to such reaction. "By gaining the full support of the Head Committee as the HDZ presidential candidate, he (Granic) had the right to expect that the party would unanimously back him up", Matesa said. Mate Granic on Thursday withdrew his membership from the HDZ Presidency and resigned to all functions in the party. Granic told a press conference he would remain a HDZ member, but in case he became a president, he would withdraw his membership from the party.(hina) it
