ZAGREB ZAGREB, Dec 29 (Hina) - On the 20th anniversary of writer Miroslav Krleza's death, an exhibition entitled "Miroslav Krleza: 1893-1981" opened on Zagreb Saturday at the National and University Library. The exhibition, opened by
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, shows the first issues of Krleza's books and translations of his work, magazines he started and of which he was editor-in-chief, his complete works and lexicography issues. Opening the exhibition, Mesic stressed that Krleza was a universal intellectual of encyclopaedic erudition who dealt with politics, adding that politics had also dealt with him. Krleza, Mesic said, lived in times full of turmoil, so his political engagement was necessary. Many occurrences in society had been envisioned by Krleza in a prophet manner, and his work very much affected Croatian literature, history and politics.
