ZAGREB MOSQUE ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) - Mufti Sevko Omerbasic celebrated the Ramadan Bayram holiday, which marks the end of a month-long fast, at the Zagreb mosque on Sunday. In his sermon, Omerbasic said the Ramadan Bayram was above
all the holiday of those who suffered, with this one being special as "others have recognised our fast as an efficient model of fighting for peace in the world." He reminded Pope John Paul II had called on all Christians to join the Muslims and fast on Dec. 14 for lasting peace on earth. Mufti Omerbasic also reminded the Muslims of Europe had been under strong, unpleasant pressure following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, including threats and attacks, but that there had been no such occurrences in Croatia. Omerbasic strongly condemned the organisers and perpetrators of the U.S. terrorist attacks, which he said claimed the lives of 900 Muslims.(hina) ha
