PODGORICA, December 13 (Hina) - The European Union has made a mistake when it opted for one side in the issue of Montenegro's independence, Council of Europe's parliamentary assembly president, Lord Russel Johnson told Podgorica's
daily "Monitor". "The position of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly is clear: we do not want to support any side in Montenegro, nor those who are for its independence, or those who wish a federation. It is up to the citizens of Montenegro to decide about their own fates," Monitor relayed Johnson's statement. Johnson believes that the EU did not make a good move by siding with one side in internal Montenegrin conflicts. EU senior representatives had recently without reserve supported the survival of FRY, the joint state of Serbia and Montenegro.(hina) lml sb
