ZAGREB, Dec 5 (Hina) - About 20.6 million kuna (US$2.5 million) is necessary for the renovation of one of the most valuable Central European monuments on the east coast of the Adriatic, the Little Brothers Franciscan monastery in
Dubrovnik, which was damaged in the 1990s war. Half the money has been ensured through a Council of Europe Development Bank loan. The Croatian parliament will ratify a contract to that end by Dec. 15. The loan has been granted on a ten-year repayment period and a five-year grace period, and very favourable interest. The money is expected this year already. Rebuilding on the monastery should be completed next year. The state budget has ensured 8.65 million kuna, while the rest will come from the Franciscan province and a World Monument Watch deed of donation. The monastery sustained serious damage during the Serbian shelling of Dubrovnik in 1991-2.(hina) ha
