ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - The South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) has forwarded a letter to Croatian President Stipe Mesic and Montenegrin counterpart Milo Djukanovic voicing its deep concern for the safety of the director of
the Croatian weekly Nacional, Ivo Pukanic. The SEEMO claims two groups close to Montenegro's secret service are preparing to assassinate Pukanic over a Nacional article about ties between Montenegrin officials and cigarette smugglers in the Balkans. Pukanic told Hina he was familiar with the letter and that he had received information corresponding to the contents of the letter. The police are investigating the alleged killing and have extended their protection even before the letter was sent, he added.(hina) ha sb
