ZAGREB, Oct 26 (Hina) - The United States Agency for International Development on Friday presented 107 certificates to Croatian citizens, representatives of ministries, courts, trade unions, the central bank, companies and
non-governmental organisations who attended various agency courses in the U.S. last school year. U.S. Ambassador Lawrence Rossin said 650 people, half of them women, had attended USAID programmes to date. The courses focus on economic development, economic and financial reforms, the development of local self-government, and the strengthening of independent media and NGOs. Rossin said he was pleased these courses, following humanitarian aid during the 1990s war, now helped Croatia in the economic and political stabilisation of a democratic society.(hina) ha sb
