Ina is an "economic-power giant" providing Croatia with a quality
supply of power sources. He applauded the company's business
cooperation with numerous powerful partners in Europe and the
world, and added that before joining the European Union, Croatia
would have a gas supply system throughout its territory, ensuring a
regular supply for citizens and the biggest companies.
Speaking about plans to link Central Europe and Scandinavia with
gas from Norway, Mesic said Croatia's gas and oil supply networks
would make it a component of Europe's power systems, which should
ensure the sufficient quantity of power sources.
Ina's chairman of the board Tomislav Dragicevic announced gas from
Italy via Slovenia would arrive in Pula, then Karlovac and Zagreb
within six months, as part of GEA, a joint $260 billion project of
Ina and Italy's ENI. The two companies should soon sign a memorandum
on understanding.
The chairman of the board of Ina-Agip, Luka Rogoz, announced that
the new gas field Ika could open in 2004 and Ida by 2006. This will
change the power picture of Croatia completely, he said.
