BOOK 'HOLOCAUST IN ZAGREB' PUBLISHED

ZAGREB' PUBLISHED ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - Zagreb's Jewish Community and Novi Liber have published "Holocaust in Zagreb", a book author Ivo Goldstein and co-author Slavko Goldstein worked on for more than three years. The book's front cover is a broken photograph of the central Zagreb synagogue, which was built in 1867 and demolished in 1941. The book's editor, Mirjana Gross, an eminent historian and professor at the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy, maintains the Ivo Goldstein book is "the first integral coverage of a topic about which only some elements have been known until now, often components in the revision of history." Another editor, Narcisa Lengel-Krizman, says the book significantly surpasses the subject stated in the title as it covers not only the holocaust in Zagreb but in the entire 1941-5 Independent State of Croatia (NDH) and brings a meticulous overview of anti-Semitism in the broader European context.(hina) ha
