OSIJEK, Oct 11 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Returnees' Association, Josip Kompanovic, said in Osijek on Thursday the government's policy regarding areas of special government care was "revenge against these areas which voted
in a way some disliked at the local self-government elections". Kompanovic told a news conference the association disagreed with the government's suggestion to amend the law on areas of special government care by which allegedly, local self-government finances would be reduced by 50 to 80 percent. He announced the possibility of the returnee association joining a protest rally against the government which will be held in Zagreb on October 20 under the organisation of Croatian veterans' associations.(hina) lml sb
