PRISTINA, Oct 5 (Hina) - At the end of their one-day visit to Kosovo, two EU senior officials, Chris Patten and Javier Solana, stressed the importance of the parliamentary elections in the Yugoslav province scheduled for November 17,
and called on Kosovo Serbs to participate. Solana described the current situation in Kosovo as much safer, and the opportunities being opened for the province after the elections as great. He added he had explained this to Albanian and Serb leaders with whom he had held talks. Solana called for a just electoral campaign devoid of violence, stressing that the elected representatives would be able to rule Kosovo more efficiently than so far. He accentuated that they must stay within the framework of the UN Resolution 1244.
