The headquarters' president Mirko Condic told reporters in Zagreb
he had information that the HTV editorial board had recently
decided to forbid local HTV studios to broadcast news about the
headquarters' activities.
"While the state television is forbidding news about the
headquarters' activities, the film "Storm Over Krajina" is being
shown as an open great Serbian project equating quilt," Condic
said.
Speaking about HTV director Mirko Galic and the author of the
Latinica show in which the film was shown, Denis Latin, Condic said
they would resign of their own accord if they had a sense of
morality. He resents the fact that the Culture Ministry has co-
financed the film.
"Storm Over Krajina" is a documentary on crimes against Croatian
Serbs and their property, which, according to witness statements,
were committed by Croatian Army members during and after the 1995
liberation operation 'Storm'.
Dissatisfied with the film being shown on national television, the
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party on Tuesday requested that
Galic and Latin be replaced.
The Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) and the Journalists'
Union dismissed the request on Wednesday describing it political
pressure on the media and journalists.
Condic told reporters "the regime media" were holding the
headquarters' activities under permanent blockade.
Preparations for the peaceful rally scheduled for October 20 in
Zagreb are proceeding as planned, he reported.
The organisers of the rally will bring women and children to the
meeting. Some athletes, artists and scientists have joined in
organising the event, Condic said, without revealing their names.
