All the benches advocated a through revision of the entitlements of war veterans and families of killed and missing soldiers, and suggested that objections and remarks of veterans' associations should be respected in the elaboration of the draft act for its second reading. On behalf of the bench of th HDZ, the strongest opposition party, Juraj Njavro said the only good thing to be brought by the new law was the equalisation of entitlements of those suffering from Post- Traumatic Stress Syndrome with rights which so far disabled war veterans had enjoyed. The Istrian Democratic Alliance (IDS) bench opposed the cuts in the compensation for orthopaedic aids. On behalf of the opposition Croatian Party of Rights/Christian Democratic Union (HSP/HKDU), Anto Djapic, described the bill as defective and hasty. He said the sheer change of the legal regulations would stir only dissatisfaction among veterans and he advocated the revision of all the cases. The ruling HSS (Croatian Peasants' Party) bench proposed the systematisation of the relevant data and the creation of the data base, to be jointly set up by the ministries of veterans, defence and interior affairs, on the beneficiaries of such entitlements. The ruling HSLS (Croatian Social Liberal Party) bench called on MPs to reach consensus on this matter. The parliamentary session continued with individual discussions by MPs. (hina) ms
