SISAK, Sept 21 (Hina) - The Dunav Lloyd river shipping company from Sisak, the only national river shipping company with 164 employed boatmen, has suffered about 3.1 million kuna (US$383,190) of damage last and this year because of
the low water level of the Sava and Danube rivers, the company's director, Zeljko Radic, said on Friday. "Without the works on the river regulation, Dunav Lloyd's survival is in question," Radic told Hina. He added "it is necessary to carry out the most necessary clearing up of shallow waters in Lonja and Davor, and pull out the bridge at Jasenovac, after which there should be no river traffic jams". Radic said "river regulation is of national importance because if Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Yugoslavia reach an agreement on sailing on the Sava and Danube rivers, Lloyd will be allowed to sail on the Danube, distribute oil products to Yugoslavia.
