NEW YORK, Sept 18 (Hina) - The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Monday discussed circumstances in Kosovo and called on local Serbs to take part in the political process and go to the polls at the 17 November election. During
a discussion, Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Nebojsa Covic warned of a series of problems local inhabitants, primarily Serbs, were faced with. Covic added the engagement of the local Serb population would depend much on whether they would be guaranteed freedom of movement. UN officials are disappointed with the number of Serbs who have so far enrolled in the voters' registers. According to figures released by the UN mission in Kosovo, by the end of August 39,000 Serbs in Kosovo were registered as eligible voters, another 25,000 in Serbia, whereas only 500 were registered in Montenegro.
