Communications Minister Alojz Tusek is participating in a
conference on the transportation on interior water-ways opened by
Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok in Rotterdam on Thursday.
The conference is attended by 18 European transportation
ministers, representatives of international organisations,
observers from other countries interested in the transportation on
rivers and channels (The United States, China, Vietnam, Thailand),
the Croatian Transport Ministry said in a statement.
One of the topics of the conference is how to create a transparent
and integrated European transport market on interior water-ways
based on the principle of reciprocity, free navigation, equal
competition and equal treatment for all users of interior water-
ways.
Also supported at the conference was the integration of the Rhine
and the Danube Commissions, two umbrella organisations covering
European river transport.
Minister Tusek on Thursday signed a memorandum on understanding on
the development of the pan-European traffic corridor VII (The
Danube Corridor) which envisages the cooperation of all Danube
River countries in the development of infrastructure.
