The works of art have arrived this morning by plane from Istanbul in
air-conditioned boxes. The boxes have to undergo 24 hours of
acclimatisation before they can be opened, said Vukovic, adding
this was why the exhibition would be set up on Monday.
Curators will have to finish their work by Sept. 11, when the Arts
Pavilion opens its doors to all who want to see Warhol's paintings,
including those of Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy, as well as the
legendary examples of the earliest pop art, the Coca-Cola cans and
the Campbell soup.
The Warhol exhibition closes on Oct. 23 and will be accompanied by
lectures, fashion shows by young Zagreb designers, workshops for
children and youth, and a concert at Zagreb's Factory club.
Thanks to a multimedia approach, the Croatian public will have the
chance to see the other segments of Warhol's output as well, namely
music, film, and fashion.
The exhibition is a U.S. State Department project which in Croatia
has been organised by the U.S. Embassy, the Contemporary Art
Museum, and the Arts Pavilion.
After Zagreb, the exhibition travels to Ljubljana.
