ZAGREB, Aug 30 (Hina) - Minister Tonino Picula's visit to Australia focuses on the restoration of good political relations and especially the strengthening of economic ties between Australia and Croatia and better communication
between Australian Croats and Croatia, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Ending an official visit to Malaysia, a Croatian delegation which,
besides Picula, includes the president of the Croatian Chamber of
Commerce, Nadan Vidosevic, arrived in Australia on Wednesday.
In Canberra today, Picula held talks with members of the Australian
parliament's foreign affairs committee and its deputy chairman
Colin Hollis.
Picula called on Australia's MPs to increase their presence in
Croatia, the region, and the whole of Europe, both politically and
economically. He applauded Australia's willingness to sign a
social insurance agreement with Croatia, and the possibility of
acquiring dual citizenship.
A meeting with Canberra's Australian Croat community was assessed
as an important step forward towards better communication and a
deeper understanding of the community's issues and issues in
Croatia.
At the Australian Institute for International Relations Picula
held a lecture on independent Croatia and new Europe.
