ZAGREB, Aug 6 (Hina) - Representatives of Croatia's three largest
union associations met with representatives of the International
Monetary Fund today, and expressed dissatisfaction with the fact
the government is implementing most issues from the agreement with
the IMF without consulting with social partners.
The unionists stressed they expected the government to reach a
consensus with social partners by the autumn before any new
actions.
They are dissatisfied with the fact that the government, as they
said, is implementing the part of the agreement directly impacting
the standard of living, and is not doing enough to create conditions
for increasing economic growth and stability of prices.
The IMF representatives are reported to be satisfied with the
decrease in salaries in Croatia, and said they would not ask the
government to further lessen incomes, but rather some other actions
to consolidate the budgetary deficit.
The unionists warned that the social minimum wage (of 400 kuna) is
insufficient, and the level of social rights for the labour
incapable unbearable.
