The county waste management plant will be financed with EUR 18.9 million to be provided by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) (48.27 percent of the total value of the project), with 6.48 million euros to be provided by the Environmental Protection Fund and 13.8 million from Istria County and the said company.
Attending the signing ceremony in the Istrian coastal town of Porec, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said that any investment in any county meant contribution to the progress of Croatia.
County Prefect Ivan Jakovcic thanked Kosor for the continuation of cooperation between Istria and the Croatian government in projects such as the Kastijun waste management depot.
Earlier in the day an agreement on the joint financing of a project to set up a EUR 49.3 million county waste management centre in Mariscina, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, was signed.
