ZAGREB POLICE SEIZE 90 KILOS OF MARIJUANA AND NAB 4 SMUGGLERS

ZAGREB, July 28 (Hina) - Zagreb police have confiscated 90 kilograms of marijuana and arrested four smugglers who obtained the drugs in Bosnia-Herzegovina for the Zagreb narcotics market. The arrest of the four Croatian citizens, and the confiscation of the drugs on 26 July was a result of a longer police operation. One of the arrested men, Srecko H. (age 25) organised the purchase and smuggling of the narcotics from Bosnia into Croatia. His accomplices were Mario M. (25) and Goran N. (23), who transported drugs in the caravan of a car with Bosnian licence plates. The drugs were then stored in the flat of the fourth suspect Safet G. (35) in Velika Mlaka outside Zagreb. The suspects have been taken to an investigating judge, while police are proceeding with this operation in order to discover other dealers in this smuggling chain. In the first six months of 2001, the police in the Croatian capital seized 1,204 grams of heroin, 152 kilograms of marijuana, 1,967 ecstasy pills and 57 grams of cocaine, the police said at a news conference on Saturday.
