Last year, it published a working volume of glossaries. The publication is a multidisciplinary glossary with some 6,000 terms, categorised into 21 areas in four languages. ZAGREB, June 28 (Hina) - A multilingual glossary of European Union
terms, entitled "Eurovoc", was presented in Zagreb on Thursday.
The glossary was published by the Croatian Information-
Documentation Reference Agency (HIDRA), with the help of the
Croatian European Integration Ministry and the German foundation
Hanns Seidel. This is the second glossary the agency has published.
Last year, it published a working volume of glossaries.
The publication is a multidisciplinary glossary with some 6,000
terms, categorised into 21 areas in four languages. Each term in
Croatian is accompanied by its English, French and German
equivalents.
The terms cover all European institutions and refer mostly to the
content of legal and legislative acts, which make up the acquis
communautaire of the European Union. The Eurovoc will be made
available on the Internet as well.
After the initialling of the Agreement on Stabilisation and
Association, Croatia faces a major task of translating tens of
thousands of pages of Croatian laws and other documents so that they
could be adjusted to EU standards. These glossaries will be an
invaluable instrument for translators and journalists as well as
politicians, civil servants and all those who will be included in
the process of Croatia's admission to the EU.
