SKOPJE, June 14 (Hina) - NATO Secretary General George Robertson on
Thursday called upon Albanian Guerrillas to lay down arms and to
immediately leave Aracinovo, a village near Skopje occupied by
Albanian Guerrillas since Friday.
Robertson, who earlier today held talks with Macedonian President
Boris Trajkovski along with EU High Representative for foreign
policy and security Javier Solana, said the Macedonian President's
request for help would be forwarded to the NATO headquarters.
According to Robertson, all 19 NATO member-countries strongly
support the peace plan and political dialogue of legal
representatives of the peoples in the region.
He said that three NATO teams for help in the implementation of the
peace plan were already deployed in Macedonia, adding that 18 KFOR
units were controlling the territory along the border with Kosovo.
He said NATO would help the implementation of a plan regarding the
disarmament of extremists.
Solana said a progress had been achieved in negotiations.
The Macedonian President said that attacks launched by Albanian
guerrillas jeopardised the entire region. "That is why I proposed a
peace plane which will be a long-term solution", Trajkovski said.
Trajkovski said political dialogue would continue this afternoon
and called upon heads of the Albanian political parties to join the
talks on most difficult issues.
