TREBARJEVO DESNO, June 11 (Hina) - The Croatian Peasants' Party
(HSS) on Monday marked the 130th birth anniversary of Stjepan and
the 133rd birth anniversary of Antun Radic, the brothers who
founded the party.
HSS members appreciate and follow the policy of the Radic brothers
and today fully stick to the policy of freedom, humanity, and
fairness, HSS president Zlatko Tomcic said in Trebarjevo Desno near
Sisak, central Croatia.
The Croatian people of today, despite having had their own state for
a decade, need visions to overcome the difficult economic and
social situation, said Tomcic.
Welcoming the admirers and followers of the Radic brothers'
teachings and the residents of their hometown, Tomcic said "the
Croatian people's political awareness and true policy which ranked
it among Europe's political peoples began with the Radic
brothers."
Speaking about the current political situation, Tomcic said "the
Croatian policy of today is again wandering in search of the right
ways to overcome the difficult situation."
"Croats will apparently have to find a common language, not in terms
of ideology but in terms of finding a way out of the difficult
economic situation," Tomcic concluded.
After laying a wreath by a monument to the Radic brothers, Bulgarian
Ambassador Velizar Encev said the brothers were historic figures
for his people who greatly respected them.
"Bulgaria's democratic public was utterly irritated when Stjepan
Radic and his associates and followers were assassinated at the
Belgrade Assembly in June 1928," said Encev. "Bulgarians and Croats
have always been friends, partners and allies, and today they are
again partners in joining the European Union," he added.
