HSLS JOINS 'INA CASE'

ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) supports Vesna Balenovic, dismissed from office at Croatia's oil company INA, who warned about crime and corruption in the company. At today's news conference at the HSLS headquarters Balenovic said "crime and corruption got hold of this government too", and accused Vice-Premier Slavko Linic and presidential advisor Igor Dekanic for keeping quiet about INA. HSLS secretary Dorica Nikolic dismissed reporters' claims that HSLS's direct support for Balenovic would create a new political crisis within the ruling coalition. Nikolic said speaking out about crime is "good for this government" and not everything can be interpreted as a conflict among the chief partners in the coalition, the HSLS and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
