PULA, June 6 (Hina) - Croatian Homeland War Veterans' Minister Ivica Pancic said in Pula today that "the Croatian Homeland War Veterans' Ministry is investing great efforts in solving the problems of suicide, but the aggravating
circumstance is that the attitude towards the problem was opportunistic, and it was used for political, sensationalist and even business aims". Pancic was a guest at a three-day international symposium of neurosurgeons, as part of which a workshop on the subject of preventing soldiers' suicidal behaviour took place. Pancic put part of the blame on the media which, he said, approached the subject in a sensationalist manner and helped the suicide problem to receive almost positive connotations. Solving this problem should be left for experts, not politicians, Pancic stressed.(hina) lml sb
