DJAKOVO DJAKOVO, June 3 (Hina)- A traditional commemoration for victims of the holocaust and the Djakovo concentration camp for Jews in the period from the summer of 1941 to the spring of 1942 was held at the Djakovo Jewish Cemetery
today. The commemoration in the eastern Croatian town was organised by the Osijek Jewish community. Attending were also members of Jewish communities in Zagreb, Sarajevo and Belgrade, as well as former Djakovo prisoners. About 800 women and children buried at the cemetery were killed in the Djakovo camp. "The crime committed in the past millennium should not be forgotten and must be a permanent warning to new generations that the holocaust must never happen again," president of the Jewish community Darko Fischer said.
