At the meeting on 19-20 May, 13 countries affected by disturbances from Italian broadcasting stations agreed on joint efforts to permanently eliminate this problem.
An Italian delegation attended that meeting, too.
HAKOM said in a statement on Monday that the initial official meeting had confirmed that Italy disregarded an international agreement on the proper use of the radio frequency spectrum and consequently caused damage to its neighbouring countries when it came to the performance of national and local broadcasters.
It was agreed that ITU (International Telecommunication Union) would be engaged in further efforts to solve this problem.
Italy also pledged to ratify the GE'06 agreement and work on the removal of the disturbances.
Over the last three years, HAKOM sent over 670 official reports on obstructions caused by Italian broadcasting stations.
The Croatian Foreign Ministry reported after a 19 May meeting between Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic and Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Bozidar Kalmeta with Italian Economic Development Minister Paolo Romani that the bulk of the problems caused by Italian TV stations' disturbance of Croatian TV stations' digital signal would be solved by the summer.
