SARAJEVO, May 28 (Hina) - Representatives of a concern headed by the Zagreb-based company 'Koncar' and the head of the European Union mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hans-Joerg Kretschmer, signed a contract on the reconstruction of
part of the railway system in the country, in Sarajevo on Monday. The contract, whose first stage is worth some DEM 11 million, has been awarded to the concern in a public bid. It provides an important possibility for the concern to permanently participate in the reconstruction of the entire railway system in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The companies involved in the project will reconstruct the contact network and electric-traction units between Sarajevo and Doboj and later toward Ploce. Ambassador Kretschmer said the EU wants Croatia, Bosnia-
Herzegovina and Yugoslavia to adjust their railway systems to what
the rest of Europe needs in a quality and cost-efficient manner.
According to statements from the "Railways of Bosnia-Herzegovina"
in Sarajevo, regular passenger trains should start travelling
between Zagreb and Sarajevo as of June 10.
