A deficit of 3.25 billion kuna was covered by the issue of state
bonds on foreign markets and by the issue of treasury notes on the
market at home, Croatia's Finance Ministry reported.
The revenue in the first quarter was within expectations.
However, the revenue of 9.035 billion kuna was lower by 18.8 percent
as against the revenue in the same period last year when budget
proceeds rose significantly thanks to the income from the
privatisation of the Privredna Banka Zagreb.
The outlays of 12.28 billion kuna rose by 10.8 percent as against
the first quarter of 2000.
The outlays for the salaries paid from the budget were cut by 3.7
percent to 3.8 billion kuna.
