ZAGREB, May 16 (Hina) - Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bozidar Pankretic told reporters on Wednesday he was confident the business difficulties of the British-American Tobacco (BAT) company, which invested in Croatia's Zadar
Tobacco Factory, would be overcome to the satisfaction of all interested parties. Pankretic and Deputy Prime Minister Slavko Linic criticised BAT representative Ann Johnson's attempts to "defame Croatia's economic and legal system through company authority." Linic said Johnson's "negative campaign" would not have an adverse effect on foreign investments in Croatia as foreigners, he asserted, knew well what health protection meant. After failing to comply with environmental protection regulations, BAT was not given a work permit.(hina) ha sb
