270 party and independent lists will run for assembly councillors at upcoming local elections in 20 counties and the Zagreb City Assembly. The National Electoral Commission has reported that the highest number of electoral lists, 29, have been handed for the Zagreb City Assembly, and the least, eight, for the Lika-Senj County Assembly. Between nine and 16 lists were handed for the other county assemblies. Candidates from 25 party and five independent lists will be running for 51 seats in the Zagreb City Assembly. Parties of the ruling coalition in Zagreb are running independently, while the formerly ruling Croatian Democratic Union will run in conjunction with the Croatian Party of Rights and the Croatian Christian Democratic Union.
