ZAGREB, April 22 (Hina) - The Satellite Atlas of Croatia was
published this week on the occasion of Earth Day, containing the
most detailed maps ever to be published in Croatia in book form.#L#
The atlas was published by Naklada Ljevak i Gisdata, a publishing
house specialising in the application of geographic information
and a franchisee supplying satellite images.
The Landsat satellite images in the atlas include the names of
towns, roads, and other geographical content. The 1:100,000 ratio
provides the most detailed maps ever to appear in Croatia.
Besides 206 pages of satellite images, the atlas includes a 150-
page section with a study of Croatia's natural characteristics,
population, and geographical regions, an article about the
history, technology and application of satellite images, and an
index with 7,000 entries.
Besides offering a new visual experience, the atlas is bound to
contribute to an understanding of geoinformational systems which
have become a cornerstone of natural phenomena observing, zoning
and environmental protection.
The atlas was edited by Ivan Bertic, Ivana Lampek Pavcnik and
Radovan Radovinovic.
