ZAGREB, April 18 (Hina) - Croatian Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bozidar Pankretic told reporters on Wednesday Croatia would soon introduce quick tests for 'mad cow' disease, but he did not say when exactly this method would be
introduced. All the necessary equipment is in Croatia, Pankretic said. According to unofficial sources, the application of quick tests should start in mid-May and they should initially be applied in all big slaughter-houses throughout Croatia. The quick tests are carried out on a specific brain sample of a slaughtered animal. Thanks to this method, results for 'mad cow' disease tests are available within 24 hours. Currently, the time needed for the results of 'mad cow' disease tests to be obtained is about ten days. The quick tests are almost 100 percent precise and reliable.(hina) rml
