In a brief statement to reporters, the Australian official said the
talks had tackled Croatia's aspiration to become a peace-promoting
factor in Central Europe, the way Australia wanted to be in its part
of the world.
He recalled that the two countries were connected with the Croat
community living in Australia.
This will be the beginning of a new cooperation between Croatia and
Australia, said Tomcic reminding that first steps in that regard

incumbent President Stjepan Mesic to Australia.
Today's talks also tackled the economic situation in Croatia,
social insurance between the two countries and Australia's
potential assistance to Croatia in demining, Tomcic said.
Demining assistance will be additionally discussed in the coming
days during the visit of the Australian MPs, he added.
The Australian delegation will today also meet First Deputy Prime
Minister Goran Granic and members of the Sabor Committee on Foreign
Affairs.
Along with Andrew, a member of the Liberal Party, the delegation
includes his party colleague David Jull, Grant Chapman (Liberal
Party senator for South Australia), Julia Irwin and Michael Hatton
of the Labour Party and Garry Nehl of the National Party.
