OSIJEK, PECS, SUBOTICA, TUZLA DISCUSS ECONOMIC COOPERATION

OSIJEK, April 6 (Hina) - The transborder cooperation between Osijek, Pecs, Subotica, and Tuzla in small economy was the topic of a meeting organised in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek on Friday by the town authorities and the German "Hanns Seidel" foundation. Welcoming the participants, the president of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Nadan Vidosevic, said the meeting would intensify the cooperation among the regions in question, contributing to efforts to turn them into an area of lasting peace. He added small economy could help resolve unemployment in Croatia in a short time. "Europe is headed towards the connection of regions. Many problems on the territories of these countries (Croatia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bosnia) are the aftermath of the war and break-ups of big states and economic systems. By rebuilding the joint market we are providing prospects for economic growth," said Vidosevic. The meeting continued with the presentation of a data base of craftsmen and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from Osijek, Pecs, Subotica, and Tuzla, and a workshop on adjusting the data base to international standards.
