ZAGREB, April 5 (Hina) - After a long period of upward movement of the unemployment rate, this March saw a mild fall in unemployment in Croatia - at the end of last month, 388,747 jobless persons were registered with the Croatian
Employment Bureau, which is 114 persons less than the month before. In comparison to the same month last year, the number of unemployed persons this March increased by 31,000 or 8.7 percent. That Croatia has a high unemployment rate is proved by the February unemployment rate of 22.9 percent. Analysts with the Employment Bureau say the latest, mild decrease in unemployment is the result of the beginning of seasonal movements. According to the Bureau's data, 20,527 job-seekers registered with the Bureau this March, which is almost 11 percent less than the month before. According to the Bureau's data, 20,527 job-seekers registered with
the Bureau this March, which is almost 11 percent less than the
month before.
A total of 12,139 job-seekers found employment in March, which is 15
percent more than in February, whereas 8,521 persons were struck
off the Bureau's register for other reasons.
At the same time, employers registered 18,754 vacancies, which is
5,000 vacancies or almost 38 percent more than in February.
