YU LAW EXPERT: MILOSEVIC'S APPEAL LEADS TO WAR REPARATIONS

BELGRADE, April 4 (Hina) - A Yugoslav international law expert, Vojin Dimitrijevic, believes the appeal filed by former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic saying Yugoslavia had financed Croatian and Bosnian Serb military formations with extra-budgetary funds will have dangerous consequences for Yugoslavia. In a statement to Wednesday's issue of the Belgrade paper 'Blic', Dimitrijevic says Yugoslavia could face huge war reparation requests and recalls that Croatia and the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (the country's Croat-Muslim entity) have already filed such complaints with the International Court of Justice (ICJ). He also reminds that Yugoslavia has so far consistently denied any involvement in the wars in Bosnia and Croatia. The legal expert believes it is paradoxical that Milosevic claims that the financing of the Serb military formations in Croatia and Bosnia was and "must remain a state secret" and his statement is being published. Obviously, Milosevic has estimated that such a statement "cannot additionally aggravate his position," Dimitrijevic says. (hina) rml
