ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - According to the Payment System Bureau (ZAP), the average salary in Croatia this February amounted to 3,391 kuna (some US$ 390), which is a nominal increase of 0.6 percent as against the month before.

3,391 kuna (some US$ 390), which is a nominal increase of 0.6

Compared to February last year, the nominal increase of this year's
February average salary was 11.6 percent while its real increase
was 5.9 percent.
According to the ZAP data, salaries in the private sector were lower
than those in the state sector and below the national average.
The average net salary in the private sector amounted to 2,959 kuna
(US$ 340), which is 24 percent less than in the state sector and 12.7
percent below the state average. The average net salary in the state
sector this February amounted to 3,895 kuna (US$ 448), which is 11.5
percent more than the state average.
Average salaries in February ranged from 2,291 kuna (US$ 263) in the
fishing industry, which is almost a third less than the state
average, to 5,112 kuna (US$ 616) in financial transactions.
According to the amount of average net salaries, most legal
entities - 60.5% of 46,329 - paid average net salaries ranging from
1,501 kuna (US$ 173) to 3,000 kuna (US$ 345) per employee.
More than one half of employees, 427,000 of 831,000, are in a
category where salaries range from 3,000 (US$ 345) to 5,000 kuna
(US$ 575). The average salary higher than 5,000 kuna was paid only
by 4.4 percent of legal entities employing 9.1 percent of all
workers. The average net salary higher than 10,000 kuna (US$ 1,149)
was paid only by 132 legal entities, which employ 1,000 workers.
Much higher was the number of legal entities which paid salaries
amounting to less than 1,000 kuna (US$ 115) - 339 of them, with 2,358
workers. More than 31,000 workers in slightly more than 6,000
companies this February received salaries ranging from 1,000 to
1,500 kuna.
The ZAP has also reported that salaries in all counties, except for
the City of Zagreb, have been below the state average for several
years. This is supported by this year's February data, according to
which the average salary in Zagreb was 3,835 kuna (US$ 441) while
all other counties had lower averages, with Medjimurje County at
the bottom of the list, with the average salary of 2,580 kuna (US$
297), which is 23.9 percent below the state average.
