SUZA, March 14 (Hina) - The renovated cultural centre in the eastern Croatian village of Suza was opened on Wednesday within celebrations of March 15th, a Hungarian national holiday. The reconstruction of this house was financed by
the Hungarian government which ensured 330,000 kuna (82,500 German marks) for that purpose. In 1999 Budapest decided to allocate 220 million forints to help rebuild war-hit facilities of Croatian Hungarians. So far, a Reformist church in Kopacevo and cultural centres in Zmajevac, Lug, Batina and Suza have been reconstructed thanks to that support. Croatian Hungarian representatives expressed satisfaction with the backing from Hungary. In Croatia there are some 23,000 ethnic Hungarians and most of them live in Slavonia and Baranja (eastern areas).
