The Bosnian Federation's Interior Minister Mehmed Zilic warned on Saturday some police officers in the Herzegovina region could leave the federal forces and establish a self-governing Croat police. The UN Mission will not permit the undermining of progress achieved in the creation of a professional and unified ministry because of some extremist leaders who want separate institutions to maintain power in their hands, the Mostar UN office said. The Mission called on all active police officers to perform their duties professionally without meddling in politics, and to maintain the rule of law.
