ZAGREB, March 12 (Hina) - Croatia's budgetary deficit in January totalled 620 million kuna (approx. $75.6 million), which alongside foreign repayments is financed through borrowing from domestic banks, the central bank said on Monday.
Government revenues in January totalled 2.95 billion kuna (approx. $359 million) and were some 30 percent lower than a year before, when significant earnings were made through privatisation. A much better indicator of the real situation is the current revenue which this January was 14.2 percent higher than the year before, the result of better receipts from excise taxes, Value Added Tax, and non-tax revenues. Budgetary expenses in January totalled 3.57 billion kuna (some $435 million), 10.1 percent more than the year before, which is the result of higher expenses for subsidies and other current transfer payments.(hina) ha
