LISBON LISBON, March 10 (Hina) - The marking of the 550th anniversary of the birth of great Croatian humanist writer Marko Marulic and the 500th anniversary of his master-piece, the heroic epic 'Judith' started at the National Library
in Lisbon last Thursday. On that occasion, a Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy professor, Nikica Talan, held a lecture on the historical and cultural ties between Portugal and Croatia before a large audience, while Francisco Javier Galvez, a professor at Complutensa University in Madrid, spoke about the presence and importance of Marulic's work on the Iberian Peninsula, the Croatian Embassy in Lisbon said. Croatia's Ambassador to Portugal, Darko Bekic, opened an exhibition called "Croatian Humanist Marko Marulic" on the occasion of the writer's birth anniversary.
